HEAD OF DIVERSITY & INCLUSION AWARD
Amanda Phillips has worked at United Utilities (UU) for 17 years and, in 2023, became the company’s first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Manager. Building on her experience improving services for vulnerable customers, Amanda quickly established ED&I as a core part of UU’s culture. She produced the company’s first ED&I Report, aligning colleague networks with UU’s 2030 commitments, and championed initiatives such as British Sign Language training for customer-facing staff, the first of its kind in the utilities sector. Under her leadership, UU reached fourth place in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers and won Diversity Team of the Year at the 2024 Inclusive Awards. Amanda also led UU to win Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year at the 2025 Water Industry Awards. Passionate about “Opportunity For All,” she continues to embed inclusion across the business and community.
