Ian Tomney-Bell (ITB) discovered his passion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) through the adoption of his daughter, sparking a career dedicated to tackling workplace inequalities. At Virgin Media O2, he rose from Family Liaison to Co-Chair of the Proudly network, leading landmark initiatives such as the first intersectional Family Week and the company’s largest Pride celebration. Now Head of Diversity at giffgaff, Ian has delivered sweeping change, establishing new Employee Resource Groups, embedding neuroinclusive practices, designing inclusive recruitment policies, and personally training all line managers in inclusive leadership. His data-led, people-first approach has advanced gender parity, boosted representation of global majority colleagues, and enhanced psychological safety across the business. Recognised with the Head of Diversity Award at the Rainbow Honours 2025, Ian continues to inspire others to move beyond passive allyship to active, meaningful inclusion.
