Inclusive Culture Initiative
Right to Respect is Balfour Beatty’s flagship culture change programme, designed to build an equitable, psychologically safe and inclusive workplace where every employee feels respected. Developed in response to staff feedback highlighting inconsistent reporting, harmful “banter” and low psychological safety, the programme brings together leaders from Communications, HR, Procurement and Operations, supported by The Clear Company, to embed lasting behaviour change. Through anonymous surveys, structured workshops, clear reporting pathways, wellbeing support, leadership engagement and supply chain upskilling, Right to Respect has become a business‑wide strategic initiative. Its principles are now built into induction, leadership training, health and safety, senior communications and site practice, supported by Ethics and Respect Champions across all business units. With strong executive sponsorship and growing momentum, Right to Respect is becoming part of Balfour Beatty’s DNA, transforming culture and ensuring everyone goes home safe and respected.
