D&I Tech Initiative Award
Coding Black Females is the UK’s largest community of Black women software developers, engineers and tech professionals, founded in 2017 by Charlene Hunter MBE. Created to remove barriers and increase representation in technical roles, the organisation has grown from local meet‑ups to a global community of more than 20,000 members. Through free intensive bootcamps, technical workshops, mentoring and peer‑to‑peer support, Coding Black Females provides a safe, empowering space where Black women can thrive without compromising their identity. At a time when Black women represented less than one percent of the UK tech workforce, the organisation has successfully supported over 2,000 women into technical careers from non‑traditional pathways. Coding Black Females continues to transform the tech landscape by building confidence, capability and opportunity, ensuring Black women are represented at every level of the industry.
