D and I Tech Initiative

The 'fraut' app development team are Dr Tony Mohammed and Dr Cora Beth Fraser. Tony is a GP working at a busy NHS surgery, who wanted to use his coding skills to develop a solution for his autistic patients and their families. With long waiting lists and cuts to services, he was seeing too many families struggling to access the support that they needed - and as an autistic person himself, with neurodivergent kids, he felt that he had to do something to help. Beth is a university teacher and psychoeducation professional who started learning about autism when her son was diagnosed in 2017 - and then realised that she was autistic herself! Since then she's been working to develop resources for other families going through the autism diagnostic process; and when she met Tony, they realised that together they could create something that might make a difference to the lives of autistic families.
A year and a half later, the 'fraut' range of autism support apps is expanding all the time, reaching new audiences on new platforms. It includes the flagship 'fraut for families' app, packed with advice and unique resources; the 'fraut workplace' app for adults, which is a free resource for autistic employees and their managers in the workplace; and 'fraut spiky profile', a free standalone app which encourages neurodivergent children to see their differences in a positive light.
