I am Morag Sterrick, owner and stylist at Aquarius Hair Design in Earlston, Scottish Borders, our very busy hairdressing salon. We are a team of three- my colleague Megan has Downs Syndrome and has twenty years experience. My other colleague Katrina has learning disabilities and comes once a week.
We have battled to change perceptions and had some success. We are Disability confident leaders and strive to create positive outcomes for other learning disabled workers.

When Megan applied to our local college they rejected her. Several times. Then I wrote to the faculty head. After a lengthy process she was accepted. And passed!

Katrina has recently successfully completed units from our college skliis accreditation section. This is a wonderful positive achievement. We hope to continue Katrinas training with another course.

We also offer taster days to those facing barriers to employment, learning disability, barriers to education and other complex issues.
We have had a positive experience and promote this to others.
