Dom Shaw is a games industry professional who co-created and held the first Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) role at Ukie (UK video games and interactive entertainment trade association) for the last 5 years, where he led the #RaiseTheGame initiative to be award-winning and delivered positive impact across the gaming ecosystem. Dom is currently planning what he plans to do next, yet regardless what it is diversity and inclusion of people and cultures will be embedded into it!
Dom has also been a mentor for Limit Break Mentorship for the last 2 years, and has supported numerous charities across the gaming ecosystem such as Lifelites, Everyone Can and being an ambassador for the UK’s leading autism research charity Autistica since 2019.
As a neurodiverse (Autistic, dyslexic with traces of ADHD and OCD) and LGBTQ+ identifying individual from a single parent home, Dom has never been a stranger to the importance of diversity, inclusion and understands the struggle individuals from underrepresented backgrounds can face when trying to get a job in any industry, let alone the games industry that can be extra fierce due to recent layoffs, the ratio of people to jobs there is and other issues. Having worked diligently to get his foot into the games industry, starting his journey when he was 16 in 2010, Dom has been energetically committed to encouraging, empowering and amplifying marginalised voices and increasing representation at all levels within the games industry to ensure no one is excluded and anyone can seek opportunities on a fair playing field; similar to how he has worked hard but also been blessed with academic and professional opportunities.
