I have over come quite a lot in my life, Surviving my youth seems to be where it begins though as a Survivor who grew up in the days before my neuro diversity could be recognised I feel I have always strived and never felt as if I have done enough, this has ofetn been to my detriment as you can see I am filling this profile on the 14th July so wont have given myself the time to let people Know and maybe get more nominations.
Growing up in the back streets of Middlesbrough, knowing poverty from a first hand perspective and living with domestic violence around me didnt give me the best start in life. I couldnt understand my own feelings of being trans and ended up being a runaway who landed in the van of a very bad person, my life changed for the worse after that experience as it took me many years to deal with the trauma.
I keep going tho and feel I have a vast amount of experience to call on when helping orgs and people in general around the area of inclusion.
some things I am proud of are
“Ellie created the first trans specific safe house project in the UK and has been recognized nationally for what she sees as her “calling”.
Supported more than 2000 individuals on their own transitional journey
Delivers highly regarded training and support around inclusion & Diversity
2019 NDA finalist – Positive Role Model Category (sole binary trans finalist from 28000 nominations
Created the sole over 50’s LGBT+ Group in Teesside
Founder of SYSTEMIC
Hosts her popular Sunday morning radio show on CVFM radio
Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
Healthwatch Community Champion
Voluntary E&D support Age UK Teesside”
Though as I tell people, these things arent me, they are just things I have done. If I was to tell you what I feel my building blocks as a person are, I would say .
“Binary trans woman
Neuro Diverse
Person of faith
Anglo Indian
Parent & Nanna
Loves to sing and play guitar (badly)
Radio presenter
Founder of SYSTEMIC
Survivor”
I find it really difficult to “big up” myself so will add a recent blurb about me if thats okay?
As I am filling in this nomination form on the afternoon before noms close. I will not be able to upload proof documents etc though I am happy for judges to google my name or check my beautiful lil choir out on insta or tiktok/facebook
