Emma Mander is the Founder and Chief Executive of Thriving Futures (GMT), an organisation dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children, young people and individuals with complex mental health needs whose lives often fall between traditional service thresholds.
Her work has been shaped not only by professional experience, but by a deep understanding of the systemic gaps that exist across education, health and social care. Emma has spent years challenging those gaps, designing and delivering innovative, community-based models of support that focus on stabilising lives, preventing escalation, and creating sustainable, long-term outcomes.
Under her leadership, Thriving Futures has grown into a multi-disciplinary service working across local authorities and NHS systems, supporting hundreds of individuals through intensive outreach, family support and tailored pathways. Her approach is rooted in co-production, ensuring that the voices of those with lived experience actively shape the services designed to support them.
Emma is widely recognised for her ability to bridge systems, influence change, and deliver real impact in complex environments. Her work continues to challenge traditional models of care, advocating for more flexible, human-centred approaches that better reflect the realities of those she supports.
Over the past year, Emma has led the organisation through a particularly challenging operating environment. Shifting national policy, increasing financial pressures across local authorities, and tightening regulatory frameworks have created significant instability across the sector. Despite this, she has maintained a clear strategic focus, adapting delivery models, navigating commissioning changes, and continuing to advocate for the needs of those at risk of being overlooked. Her leadership during this period has been defined by resilience, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring that support remains accessible, safe, and impactful for the individuals and families who rely on it.
Being nominated for Chief Executive of the Year at the National Diversity Awards reflects both Emma’s personal commitment and the wider impact of the work she leads, driving meaningful change for some of the most underserved communities.
