Engendering Change Ltd may have only been established in 2023, but our impact has already been felt across the UK. As a multi-strand EDI consultancy rooted in Portsmouth, we work at the intersection of education, business, and community empowerment—delivering powerful, practical change through inspirational training and grassroots activism.
Founded by Jo Morgan, a nationally respected speaker, author and former teacher awarded Best Sex Educator in the UK by the Sex Ed Forum, Engendering Change has grown from a solo venture into a collective of passionate, award-winning Associates. We deliver EDI and wellbeing consultancy to schools, local authorities, charities and businesses—using strategy, storytelling and evidence-based training to embed inclusion as a core value, not a compliance checkbox.
Our consultancy work is built on five core beliefs:
Change is made possible when people feel inspired
Growth matters more than perfection
Difference is something to be celebrated, not tolerated
Committing to EDI and wellbeing is a smart business choice
Empowering others is a privilege
We’ve already supported numerous businesses across sectors to embed inclusive practice through strategic reviews, policy development and workshops. But what sets us apart is our unique fusion of high-level consultancy with deep community involvement.
In Portsmouth, we are reshaping what youth empowerment looks like. In partnership with Portsmouth City Council, we established and now lead the city’s Youth Cabinet—providing a formal platform for 11–18-year-olds to influence local policy. These young people are no longer simply consulted—they’re at the table with MPs, council leaders, and CEOs. From campaigning for universal free school meals to launching a region-wide environmental petition (“Save Our Solent”), they are driving real change, and we are behind them every step of the way.
Our inclusive approach is intersectional and evidence-based. We’ve created Portsmouth’s first city-wide strategy for anti-racist education, upskilled dozens of PSHE leads in inclusive RSE, and developed toolkits on preventing child-on-child sexual abuse—all with a practical, non-judgemental approach that empowers educators and students alike.
We are proud of the national impact we’re having. Our founder’s new book, Empowering Relationships and Sex Education (Routledge, 2024), is already shaping school policy and practice. Meanwhile, Jo continues to speak across the country, tackling misogyny, transphobia and homophobia head-on with warmth, honesty and clarity—whether on Times Radio, in corporate boardrooms, or in classrooms.
Our approach is human-centred. We are known for diffusing tension, encouraging challenge, and inspiring change—even in “resistant” rooms. Whether we’re working with Year 9 students or senior leadership teams, we create space for reflection, growth, and shared accountability.
We are also unapologetically bold in our community work. Highlights include:
– Installing a giant “Love is Love” mural co-created by LGBTQ+ youth and queer artists
– Hosting inclusive community events for asylum seekers and local families
– Supporting young people to honour the life of Brianna Ghey with a public memorial
– Delivering pro bono training and talks to state schools, grassroots charities and youth groups
– Partnering with Portsmouth Pride to ensure young voices are heard on the main stage and in planning rooms
– Hosting ‘LGBTQ Routes to Parenting’ for the UK Pride programme 2025
And we’re just getting started.
Receiving this award would not only validate the transformational work we’ve already delivered—it would accelerate our ability to reach more organisations, empower more changemakers, and raise the standard for what EDI consultancy can achieve.
We’re proud to work with integrity, authenticity and heart—and we’d be honoured to be recognised for the change we’re engendering.
