CEO and Founder, Martin McKay, started the business in 1996 after watching his father struggling to communicate following a severe stroke. At that time, there was little assistive technology available, so Martin decided to take matters into his own hands. For almost 30 years, we’ve led the way in creating technology that helps everyone understand and be understood. To date, our products have positively impacted over 200 million people across 150 countries and 6 continents.
Our technology breaks down barriers and opens up opportunities in a world that isn’t designed for different thinkers. While students and employees are asked to succeed in one-size-fits-all systems, our software adapts to their needs, making it easier to learn, work, and communicate. In the era of AI, we’re also championing neuroinclusive tools that optimize for the full spectrum of how people think and process, not just efficiency and speed. Most AI tools rely on detailed written prompts, long paragraphs of output, and fixed summary styles. They use interfaces that expect users to read, scan, and process information in a linear way. For millions of neurodivergent people, this can cause friction in their work flow. We’re reshaping AI by creating AI-based tools that flex to the way different minds operate, because no two minds work the same and they shouldn’t be expected to.
Our global team drives forward our purpose to change how the world understands neurodiversity and supports different thinkers. Currently, Everway employs over 600 people across North America, Europe, and Australia. Together we’re helping to build a world that recognizes the full range of human potential and values difference as a strength. We’re empowering educators and employers to become leaders of neuroinclusive environments, with technology that equips people to show what they’re capable of.
By 2030, we’re committed to reaching 1 billion lives with our technology. Initiatives like our Family Access program, which gives employees’ families free access to our flagship product Read&Write, ensure our impact goes further, reaching those who need it most. Since the launch of this program in 2021, we have seen a 10% increase in product usage since, demonstrating a positive ripple effect.
