We are part of a collaborative partnership between Mablethorpe Neighbourhood Policing Team and Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure & Culture, working within a coastal community facing high levels of deprivation, limited opportunity and social inequality. Through our joint work, we have seen first hand the challenges young people experience, including disengagement, lack of safe spaces and limited access to positive activities.
A key challenge has been responding to high demand with limited resources, in a setting where many young people face adverse childhood experiences, poor mental wellbeing and barriers linked to poverty and rural isolation. Building trust with those who may be wary of authority or services requires consistency, empathy and a long-term commitment.
In response, we have worked together to support initiatives such as NexGen Magna’s, creating inclusive, accessible opportunities for young people to engage in safe, structured environments. This partnership has helped bridge the gap between young people and local services, reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour and encourage positive engagement in their community.
Together, we are proud to have contributed to a programme that has improved confidence, strengthened relationships and created meaningful opportunities for young people in Mablethorpe. Our continued focus is on prevention, inclusion and partnership working to improve life chances and build a safer, more connected community.
