As an Out lesbian, I ensure Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging is front and centre of the organisation and I have been key in the increase in importance and awareness of Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging within the organisation. I have led deep systemic changes within the organisation and put in place several inclusive policies globally (transitioning at work, menopause, domestic abuse…) I have created safe spaces to allow employees to safely call out discrimination and problematic behaviour, systematically calling on my lived experience to create awareness. I am not afraid to have difficult conversations and create spaces to challenge the way of thinking (for example inviting a trans man to share his experience during International Men’s Day and hosting a panel on domestic abuse within the LGBTQ+ community). I have been instrumental in making the application process more inclusive for people applying to Allianz by adding more options to the “gender” category in the application process on the careers website. I have passionately driven the partnership of Allianz with Pride House (for LGBTQ+ athletes) during Paris 2024 – a project that has gained much enthusiasm within the organisation. Mindful to have an intersectional approach to my work, I ensure that there is LGBTQ+ representations while talking about Black History Month, International Day of People with Disabilities etc. I have also worked with the Age Diversity and Gender Diversity networks to produce a group wide guideline on fertility. I have leveraged Allianz’s partnership with the Olympics and Paralympics to highlight queer athletes and parathletes (including a fantastic event in Paris with Marie Patouillet, an out queer paracyclist) I have also passionately driven Allianz Commercial’s sponsorship of Lesbian Visibility Week for the last two years, ensuring that there is space for lesbian visibility within my organisation and beyond.
I also lead all the LGBTQ+ ERGs withing the Allianz Group globally as Chair of the Global Allianz Pride Board, and have driven the development of Pride ERGs for all LGBTQ+ employees and allies within Allianz in countries like Singapore, Colombia and Laos. In this role I oversees 28+ Pride ERGs throughout the Allianz Group and is key in shaping the LGBTQ+ inclusion strategy within the Group, resulting in very visible support of Oliver Bate, Allianz’s CEO, on LGBTQ+ inclusion. I have set up a trans and non-binary group, which has been greatly appreciated by trans and non binary colleagues throughout the world. Under my leadership, the Pride ERGs are considered best in class in terms of how ERGs are run and develop and is regularly called upon to advise other ERGs.
As an out queer woman I have been vocal internally within the organisation and externally on LGBTQ+ inclusion – and am often invited to speak on this topic. I have used my lived experience to create awareness on the topic of domestic abuse within the LGBTQ+ community (and I partnered with OutSpoken Speakers in organising an event on this topic within my organisation) and my bravery in sharing my story has shed a much-needed light on this still very taboo topic. I have used my experience to drive the launch of a stand alone and robust domestic abuse policy, ensuring that the language used is inclusive.
I take my commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion far outside of my work by being appointed Chair of the Board of the Diva Charitable Trust and am also a Trustee on the Board of the Kaleidoscope Trust. I am also a member of the Senior Advisory Board of LINK (the LGBTQ+ Insurance network) I founded the Women at LINK group for LBTQ+ women and non-binary people, driving events highlighting Queer women and non-binary people in insurance. I have also been appointed Advisor for the African Rainbow Family. I was previously a member of the Advisory Board of We Create Space.
