I’m the CEO at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), one of the largest NHS Trusts in England, bringing together 10 hospitals and community services for patients and communities across Greater Manchester and beyond. MFT employs over 30, 000 people and we are proud to provide services in one of the most diverse city-regions in the UK. I’m also the National Priority Programme Director for Planned Care at NHS England, supporting improvement across elective care, cancer and diagnostics.

I began my career as a nurse in Manchester in 1992 and have been fortunate to work in a range of roles clinically and operationally in my time in the NHS. Since becoming Chief Executive of MFT in 2023, I’ve focused on creating the conditions for our teams to improve access, quality, equity and experience for patients, whilst supporting an inclusive culture where colleagues feel valued and able to do their best work. We’ve seen year on year improvement in every patient access standard over the last three years, with that improvement starting to show in patient experience measures. There’s more to do, but the progress is testament to the dedication and skill of the people who choose to work with us.
