My name is Sadique Maskeen, and I am the founder of Umbrella Faith Ltd, a values-driven company born out of a very personal journey—one of faith, resilience, and the desire to make workplaces more inclusive and compassionate.

As a British Muslim woman navigating both corporate and public spaces, I’ve experienced first-hand how challenging it can be to uphold one’s spiritual practice in environments that aren’t always designed with diversity in mind. Simple acts, like finding a clean, quiet space to pray, often became stressful or even impossible. It’s a quiet struggle shared by many professionals, students, and public service users of faith backgrounds, and it became clear to me that something needed to change.

My personal and professional experiences have taught me the deep importance of accessibility, dignity, and well-being. These challenges didn’t hold me back; they shaped my vision for a better future where people of all backgrounds could feel seen, supported, and included.

That vision became Umbrella Faith.

Umbrella Faith began as a small project—an idea to offer ethically made, faith-inspired prayer mats that were not only practical but also visually elegant and comfortable. The goal was simple: to make prayer feel valued in public and professional spaces, rather than something to hide or compromise on.

What started as a personal need grew into a social venture. Today, Umbrella Faith proudly supplies custom-branded well-being prayer mats to workplaces, schools, government bodies, and sports institutions across the UK. Each mat is ethically produced in Turkey and customised with care here in the UK. They’re not just tools for prayer—they’re symbols of inclusion, designed to invite conversation, awareness, and respect.

Alongside our mats, we offer the educational e-book “What is a Muslim?”—a short, accessible guide created to support non-Muslim colleagues and clients in building cultural understanding in respectful, simple terms. It’s been especially valuable for employers and HR teams working to improve religious inclusion policies and training.

Our journey has been powered by purpose and grounded in collaboration. We’ve been fortunate to work with organisations like Cardiff City FC, Glamorgan Cricket, Team Wales, the British Army, McDonald’s, and others—each one committed to creating environments where diversity is more than just a buzzword.

One of our proudest recent moments is our partnership with WuduMate—a leader in ablution and multi-faith washroom solutions. WuduMate’s mission to support spiritual hygiene and prayer accessibility perfectly aligns with ours. Together, we are creating integrated solutions for prayer and well-being spaces in a growing number of institutions across the UK and beyond.

As a father of two young children, I’m also passionate about ensuring the next generation grows up in a world where spiritual expression is supported and celebrated. My children are a key part of my motivation. They remind me daily of the kind of inclusive society we must build—not just through policy, but through everyday tools and gestures that signal respect.

Umbrella Faith is still growing, and I am deeply proud of what we’ve achieved so far. But this is just the beginning. My goal is to continue partnering with like-minded organisations, expanding our educational offerings, and ensuring no one ever feels like they have to compromise their identity to feel like they belong.

In every mat we deliver, in every conversation we inspire, and in every space we help transform, we’re carrying forward one message: Faith belongs here.
