  • The name of your network (as it would appear on promotional materials)

Workplace Alliance for Neurodiversity and Disability (WAND)

  • What strand of diversity does your network cater to?

Our network supports and advocates for individuals with neurodiversity and disabilities, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive

  • Please explain in depth the background and nature of your network.

WAND exists to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard. While our ambition has always been to drive meaningful change across the organisation, we recognised that the best place to start was by looking at ourselves and identifying how we could improve.

The network was established to support colleagues whose voices may not always be heard and to provide a safe, accessible platform where people can share experiences, raise concerns, and contribute ideas. We believe that every employee should have the opportunity to come to work feeling they belong, rather than feeling overlooked or excluded.

By advocating, listening and working collaboratively with colleagues and senior management. WAND drives positive change continues improve the workplace experience.

Our goal is to foster an inclusive culture where every individual feels empowered, supported, and confident that their voice matters

  • What strategy did your network employ in order to attract members?

Our approach has been to grow the network organically by creating opportunities for colleagues to engage, learn, and contribute. We promote WAND through posters across SPS sites, internal communications, awareness campaigns, lived experience stories, and educational content that highlights disability and neurodiversity in the workplace.

A key part of our engagement strategy is our monthly drop-in sessions, which are open to all colleagues. These provide a relaxed and inclusive space for people to learn more about the network, hear about our activities, and discuss how they can support a more inclusive workplace.

Growing awareness of disability and neurodiversity has also generated significant interest, with many colleagues keen to expand their understanding and explore how they can help create a workplace where everyone feels supported, valued, and able to thrive

  • What impact do you feel your network has had within your organisation/community?

Our network has had a positive impact by increasing awareness and understanding of neurodiversity and disability across the organisation. It has created a supportive community where colleagues feel empowered to share their experiences, access guidance, and advocate for inclusive practices. Through education, awareness campaigns, and collaboration, the network has helped foster a more inclusive culture where everyone feels valued and able to contribute their best
