Ongoing Initiatives and Advocacy
1. Communications & Storytelling
Through our Women@Sky intranet page and on Viva Engage, we share articles or posts to our membership where we think a special email distributing the article is needed (for example, when Kamala Harris unfortunately lost her presidential bid in November 2024, we wrote articles and VE posts on the impact this had on the mindset of women around the world but especially women of colour, asking our managers and colleagues to be gentle with us at such an emotional time).
Women@Sky issues a monthly newsletter edited by our Digital Comms Leads, spotlighting stories that matter to women, such as:
• New housing initiatives in London for women escaping domestic violence
• Coverage and support of LGBTQ+ milestones, especially focused on transgender women and lesbians
• Women across Sky who inspire (as nominated by colleagues and peers each month)
• Book & film recommendations
• Sign-posting our podcast series, upcoming events, and catch-up recordings for past events.
2. Better with Balance Podcast
Our bi-monthly podcast, Better with Balance – The Hindsight Series, features women and senior Sky leaders reflecting on their personal and professional journeys. Themes include:
• Navigating careers in male-dominated industries
• Embracing vulnerability and authenticity
• Maintaining wellbeing and balance
• Becoming vocal allies and inclusive leaders
• Retrospect of their own career paths (this series is called No Right Path)
3. Active Allyship – Our Active Allyship pillar offered targeted workshops for male managers to become better advocates for women through:
• Mentorship and sponsorship
• Unconscious bias training
• Gender-inclusive team leadership
• Support for women’s health and caregiving responsibilities
During International Men’s Day 2024, we produced a professional recording playing on a loop featuring Sky employees, including senior leaders, speaking on positive male role modelling and allyship.
4. Women’s Health & Safety – Our Female-Identifying Health & Personal Safety pillar curates regular sessions on:
• Menopause and perimenopause
• Endometriosis and gynaecological cancers
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Fertility support (laying the groundwork for a future Fertility ERG inclusive of men and women)
5. Social Mobility & Intersectional Inclusion – In 2024, we welcomed our first Social Mobility Champion—tasked with ensuring all Women@Sky events are inclusive of women from lower socio-economic backgrounds and those who’ve overcome structural barriers.
• We hosted Sky’s first and second Social Mobility Day panels in June 2024 and 2025, generating strong attendance across all genders.
• Following their success, our Champion has been appointed lead of the new Social Mobility ERG, with whom we will closely collaborate.
