Social Mobility Project Award
The University of Birmingham’s Urban Changemakers Summer Programme, in partnership with the University of Amsterdam, empowers students from widening participation backgrounds through a transformative four-week international experience. Designed to address financial and access barriers, this innovative programme enables Birmingham Scholars to explore urban issues, engage with local communities, and develop vital skills in intercultural competency and leadership. By providing wrap-around support and eliminating travel barriers, including passport and visa assistance, the programme builds the confidence and readiness of students from marginalised communities for global mobility. The initiative promotes educational equity and has significantly impacted participants, with many pursuing new opportunities and becoming advocates for global experiences.
