Balance UK is HSBC UK’s employee resource group which focuses on achieving gender diversity and inclusion throughout the organisation, providing a voice for all colleagues. Balance is made up of global and regional chapters, with Balance in the UK consisting of approximately 3,500 members, having grown by a third during 2021. The network has achieved a lot this year, not just in terms of increasing membership and delivering exceptional events, but also in working with HR to make HSBC a better place to work. Working on equal parental leave initiatives, menopause (gaining Menopause Friendly accreditation) and menstruation awareness (to name but a few) has had a positive effect on the daily lives of many HBSC colleagues. It is clear that the impact of many of their ideas, events and policy proposals will have an impact beyond Balance and HSBC.
