Chief Executive of the Year Award
Mark Cubbon is Chief Executive of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, one of England’s largest NHS Trusts, serving one of the UK’s most diverse city-regions. A registered nurse by background, he began his NHS career in Manchester in 1992 and has spent more than three decades leading improvements in healthcare. Since becoming Chief Executive in 2023, Mark has championed improvements in access, quality, equity and patient experience, while fostering an inclusive culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered to thrive. Under his leadership, the Trust has achieved sustained improvements across patient access standards and patient experience measures. Alongside his role at MFT, Mark serves as National Director for Planned Care at NHS England and is Chair of the NHS Alliance’s Health and Care LGBTQ+ Leaders Network, championing inclusion and equality across health and care.
