After working in education for over 20 years as a teacher, school leader and coach, Nic Ponsford wanted to find an accessible means to make ordinary classrooms extraordinarily inclusive. The GEC (Global Equality Collective) was set up to address this and take on the biggest issues in education; to make ordinary classrooms extraordinarily inclusive by revolutionising school culture.

The Global Equality Collective (GEC) is now a multi-award-winning global community of over 13,000 inclusion and well-being change makers, including 400 subject matter experts, who work together to equip, empower and educate. They fuse this knowledge base with ground-breaking technology (the GEC Platform) which enables state-of-the-art analytics, practice-based evidence, the latest academic research and “trains the trainer”, schools.

Proof of Concept: We have successfully demonstrated the effectiveness of our platform in empowering and equipping schools. Through our intuitive edtech solution, we have shown tangible improvements in student outcomes and attendance rates. Reaching over 216,000 students in 30 countries
Market Leadership: The GEC Platform is not just another player in the market; we are the market leader. Our scalable solution sets us apart from alternatives, offering unparalleled efficiency and effectiveness.
In-House Expertise: We boast a diverse and experienced Collective of 400 education experts who have contributed to the development of our platform. This ensures that our solution is tailored to meet the unique needs of your schools and colleges.
Psychologically Safe Environment: The GEC Platform provides a psychologically safe and verified environment, co-created by academics from 4 leading universities, school leaders, teachers, and students. This fosters a conducive learning environment where every individual feels valued and supported.
Alignment with Governance Standards: Our platform seamlessly integrates with schools’ existing governance and monitoring procedures, including Ofsted requirements. This ensures compliance while driving continuous improvement.
Data-Driven Success: With our robust data strategy, the GEC Platform enables schools to enhance staff retention and recruitment, improve student attendance, and promote overall well-being and safety. By leveraging actionable insights, schools can make informed decisions that drive positive outcomes.
In 2022, the GEC Platform was launched to school staff. Simplifying the process of improving your culture and belonging through three simple academically tested checkbox surveys is just the first stage of the Platform. The first survey is a Self-Assessment for the leadership of the organisation, while the second is a Staff Survey, designed for all team members from the site team to SLT, including inbuilt Anti-Racist monitors and the Modern Sexism Scale.

In the Autumn 2023, the GEC launched the ‘Student Module’, with the first EDI ‘student voice’ survey to include 3-18 year olds and GEC identity demographics. This was co-designed with digital design agency, Pixie Labs, Goldsmith University, 50 nurseries, schools and colleges – teachers and students alike.

Results are immediate, with evidence-led statements and effective, quality-assured coaching recommendations for each point by the Global Equality Collective. Planning a personalised road map, based on these recommendations is easy with the ‘GEC Action Plan’, enabling schools and organisations to take actionable steps towards creating a more inclusive environment for all members. In addition to this, platform members get access to a ‘Netflix’ style online library of content with over 30 days worth of CPD for them to educate themselves on everything DEI.

“The judges said this is a much needed tool in developing awareness of diversity and inclusiveness in schools and education! The testimonials from schools were strong with substantial evidence on the implementation of the tool and the platform seems to be gaining traction. Diversity, inclusivity and equity in EdTech is such an important topic and GEC is clearly doing this in a big and powerful way.”
