Diversity Teams Award
The Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts’ Learning and Improvement team has helped transform SFCT’s approach to equity, diversity and inclusion, demonstrating how reflective leadership, lived experience and data‑driven action can reshape organisational culture. Joining through the Charityworks programme, their Learning and Inclusion Officer helped Since its formation, the team has formalisd the DEI Network, co‑created SFCT’s first cross‑organisational DEI Action Plan, and developed mandatory learning rooted in lived experience, practical tools and honest conversation. They introduced SFCT’s first gender and ethnicity pay gap analysis and expanded this work to disability and social mobility, ensuring inequalities are activley monitored, understood and addressed. Through thoughtful awareness work, staff engagement and patient, relationship‑centred change, the team has strengthened belonging, encouraged colleagues to share their stories and embedded inclusion into everyday practice. Their work shows how a small team can drive meaningful cultural transformation with empathy, nuance and purpose.
